95 jeep Cherokee/country
While driving 55mph with the cruise control on the engine will stall and after a few seconds will restart by itself with the cruise still on and accelerates back to the cruise control speed. (Scary!) Has done this a couple of times. Any help from anybody would be appreciated because I have no clue where to start. I didn't think cars with an automatic transmission would restart like that.

Does yopur Jeep stall to a complete stop or just out for a bit and then take off again. I would look towards fuel pump. Anything electrical should drop out the cruise control.

No it doesnt go to a complete stop it just momentarily falls down long enough for me to look at the gauges and realize the RPM/tac is at 0 and speed has dropped from approx. 55 to 35.

Do you think it has anything to do with a crank shaft censor?

The tach gets its signal from how many the coils fire per second. The coil get it's signal as when to fire from the crank position sensor. Failure of this sensor will also stop the pulse to the fuel injectors. I would go ahead and change the CPS. If anything else, give us a holler.
