My Jeep overheated on the freeway and I got off and after it cooled off there was no coolant in the radiator or the overflow tank. I filled both and got to my destination (15 mi) with no problems but half the coolant had leaked out of the overflow. I let it sit overnight and checked and almost all the rest had leaked from overflow but the radiator was still full. I didnt see any coolant on the ground though. I am not a mechanic but can at least check the hoses if I know where they are. How many hoses come from the overflow, besides the one on top that goes to the radiator? I am not in a position to have a lot of mechanical work done on this car right now. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Take and fill it up and look for the leaks coming from the resevoir, thers one hose. Feel with your hand, easy to find them that way!

Thank you. I filled it, drove it a few miles and can find no leaks. I'll let it sit overnight again and see what happens.

What you had happen was that you had an air pocket in the block after it overheated, driving it then letting it cool overnight worked the air out. You should be fine now. Did you find out what caused the overheat in the first place?

Good Morning,
I let the car sit over night again and nothing leaked out. That's the good news. I have no idea why it overheated in the first place. I had just changed the oil and added transmission fluid the day before but don't think that would have anything to do with it.

I appreciate your help, I can barely afford fuel much less car repairs right now. I will keep a very close eye on this until I can get it into a shop. Bless you guys.

Could have been a senosr acting up, maybe moisture on the MAF or another sensor causing it to run lean and causing the problem. Change in temperature, load on engine to name a few.

Keep an eye out and let us know.
