1993 Jeep Cherokee oil gague does not work

My oil gague does not work and when i let off the gas i hear a humming noise the oil level is fine

If there was no oil pressure, you would hear a knock or ticking. Have you replaced the oil sending unit? Also, make sure it wasn't disconnected when someone removed the oil filter. I believe your filter is on the passanger side in a vertical position. The sending unit is right above.
