1992 Jeep Cherokee 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic

how do you remove the gas tank and install a new sending unit without it leaking from the metal ring that holds the sending unit into the tank?i removed the sending unit,reinstalled it and now it has a leak from the metal ring that holds the sending unit in the tank.

Did you replace the rubber o-ring that goes between the sending unit and the tank?
