1991 Jeep Cherokee wont start

I have a 1991 jeep cherokee and wnat its doing is when I start it, it turns over and it sounds like it wants to starts but it also sounds like its trying to start on a few cylinders and when I check for spark its onyl sparking on a few plugs. I've replaced the CPS and the whole distributor and its doing the same thing so I went and turn the key on and off 3 times and the engine light gave me a cod 12, and 55.
what could be the problem?
