1987 Jeep Cherokee Low oil pressure when hot

1987 Jeep Cherokee 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Manual 200k miles

I have an 87 Jeep cherokee with 200k miles on it. Cold oil psi = 40 .The problem happens when the engine gets hot and over enough distance (40 miles) my oil pressure slowly drops to zero. I have gone with thicker oils, I have replaced oil filters, I have tested the dash gauge, I have I have I have... Any ideas? thanks.

check the oil pump and the oil pressure regulator.

are you using a thread in guage not relaying off the guage on the insrument cluster?
