When I start the jeep it makes a rattling noise like it may be low on oil. I have just recently change the oil and filter and it checks out ok on the dip stick. Someone told me it may be the oil pump going out, what do you think.

See my Profile,

As your engine gets older, you will get rattles in your valve train (It is a quickly going away--Clatter, RIGHT?)

May can help you Squeeze out some more miles!

If you gave me that rig, right now, I would do an OIL CHANGE ('cause I cannot trust anyones word!)

When I did that CHANGE, I would SUBSTITUTE, a QUART ofMarvel Mystery OILfor a quart of regular oil........This will CLEAN your Oil Passages and Lifters (tappets)........This may get rid of rocker-arm rattle completely..........or not....but will harm nothing!

Next, My next oil change and "ALL" thereafter, I would use "LUCAS OIL STABILIZER" (does not have to be the $$$ synthetic type).......and "MMO" does not need to used every change.....This is some thick stuff, may take 30 minutes to get it to all run out of the bottle.

Stabilizer adds a little $$$ to your change, but it will prolong engine life.

I use it in ALL OF MINE.......Nothing is too good for "Mr. Jeep" and "Willy"

Respond with good news.......Whenever!

Make me sound like a Saint in "FEEDBACK"

Thanks for the ideas, I wasn't lying when I said I changed the oil, but I would like the chance to prove your suggestion right. It does not take long for it to quiet down after the reving up.

Roger, I'm sure that if it is in the lifters and such, this will help. But not hurt!

Any vehicle in the "NELSOMATIC" Inventory gets that "No Trusty" Treatment. And any and every fluid gets replaced upon arrival. Even bleeding the brakes till the new comes thru!

Not doubting you at all. Thats just the "Half Empty" attitude I have about every thing!

Army Airborne Ranger Battalion---did this to me.I cannot enter a convenience store (or anywhere, for that matter) without locking on to a Field Expedient Weapon with my eyes. Then I look for one better than the first choice. Is that not what everyone does?

Or pull up to the Night bank machine. Leave my Jeep in gear----REVERSE----Wheels cocked slightly right for Maximum Dragage against the machine/wall. EZer to Reverse the Victim Role when he's in front of me, or smeared on the wall, instead of him yanking on me or shooting at me. My move would be least expected, should I be approached from the rear!

That the way you stay prepared?

Please Tell me if my Methods (fixing your Jeep) help you. Time does not matter. Your post will move to the top when you reply.
