2000 Jaguar XKR V8 74000 miles

I tried to open the top, standing still, engine idle, gear in park. The top opened about two inches and stopped. I activated the switch to close it again. It closed, but almost immediately hydraulic oil started to drip from the light panel. Do you know what went wrong (hydraulic mechanism for the latch?) and how can I fix it. I am pretty good good mechanically having rebuild a TR6 from scratch.
Thank you very much for your help.
Uwe

PS could you give me an idea what a customary donation would be?
