1990 Jaguar XJS Hood release

1990 Jaguar XJS 130000 miles

took car to replace starter and showed mech. how to open and shut hood. When I got it back I could not open hood. Lever seemed to be in bind. Moved lever back and forth with no release. Is there an emergency or alternative way to open hood?

Often when a bonnet will not pop, if you get someone to hold some downward pressure over the bonnet lock and pull the release it can often trigger the release, if this works, the lock will just need adjusting, try this first.
