I am looking at purchasing a 1988 jaguar xjs v12 and noticed that the steering wheel seems be be loose inside the car. Is this a serious problem or just a bushing etc. That needs to be replaced

Upper and lower steering columns are collapsible. Nylon pins, which shear on impact, allow the shaft and columns to collapse. The upper and lower columns consist of 2 sliding shafts each. The shaft is supported by 2 prelubricated roller bearings.
