The heat pump and valve have been replaced and the heater core was reversed flushed ($$$$$$$ ouch). When the car is started at below freezing tempreatures there is a snapping noise, may be electrical, comming from under the hood for a few minutes then it stops. This does not affect the prefomance of the engine. I don't know if this is related to the intermitent heat.
