1998 Jaguar XJ8 wipers

I just got this car, the wind shield wipers work whenever they feel like it, but they do not most of the time.
I also need to know how to open the trunk, it is in a valet mode, I have the black key but do not have the remote. I think there is a problem with the lock, since they key is bent. There is no switch to turn the valet off.
