1998 Jaguar XJ8 windshield wipers and valet mode

my wiper has a mind of its own, does not work most of the time. I can't figure out a way to open the trunk, it is in a valet mode, I do not have the remote, the black key does not open it, the lock could be broken since I could not turn the key 90 degrees.
any ideas

you need a locksmith to get the trunk open ..the wiper switch may be faulty
