1998 Jaguar XJ8 Security module

The dealer tells me I "May" need to replace my security module because the remotes do not work. I don't believe the cause is the remotes. Can the security module be replaced outside dealership by me and can the remotes be reprogrammed by me. How do I get How-To details on these processes.

most good shops wil be able to replace the module .. only jaguar will be able to reprogramme using the jaguar diagnostic software
