AS i start drivinh the car the temperature gage will go very rapidly to high, and sometimes it will go back to normal and back to high. coolant level is good and the engine does not seem to be as hot as it is indicating. what could be the problem

check/replace thermostat .. check/replace the coolant temperature sensor !
