I have a 98 jaguar xj8 and the oil light stays on un less u press the gas pedal then the light turns off. The problem has been there before i changed the oil. I changed the oil a week ago. So it cant be the oil level and i also changed the oil sending unit. Do you think its the oil pump?

Before coming to a possibly incorrect conclusion about why the oil light is coming on I would remove the oil pressure sending unit and install a pressure gauge to see exactly what the pressure is. If it falls below the factory specification with the engine at operating temperature then I would think there is something wrong inside the motor and yes the oil pump would then be suspect.
