1998 Jaguar XJ8 Low oil pressure indicator light

My low pressure indicator light comes on at random after what appears the engine has warmed up to normal operating temperature. It only comes on at full stops and goes off immediately after I accelerate. It will also go off if I t put the car in neutral while sitting at a stop light. When I check the oil level it is always fine. What should I check for? Thank you for your assistance.

start by replacing the oil pressure switch it may be faulty
