1998 Jaguar XJ8 iNTERIOR AND EXTERIOR DOOR HANDLES NOT WORK

The interior and exterior door handles on my 98 XJ8 drivers side door have both quit working within one week of each other. Is there any way this can be fixed at home without the expense of going to the mechanic?

remove the inner door panel and check the linkages ar still in place
