1996 Jaguar XJ6 VDP rear shock replacement?

You don't need a spring compressor, but you definitely need a car lift and tranny jack.

Lift the car, undo entire rear end, undo 4 bolts holding shocks to sub frame, slowly lower rear end with tranny jack remove old shocks put new ones on.

I was very lucky to have a mechanic neighbor with a 10,000 lbs lift in his garage. Whats funny is, we replaced all 4 shocks, then a week later figured out that the springs needed to be replaced as well!
