hi i have a 1996 xj6 vanden plas.drove it to the park ran fine. shut the car off and when i tried to start it, it would sputter for a second and quit. where is the location and how to replace the fuel pump?

The fuel pump is inside the fuel tank. You need to drain and remove the tank to get at the pump. Before I did this I wound check fuel flow and pressure at the fuel rail and be sure the fuel pump relay is working. You should be able to hear the fuel pump run for a few seconds when you turn the key to run.
