1992 Jaguar XJ6 oil gauge increases as speed increases

When I push the pedel down the oil guage goes from left to right just like the spedometer, it idles roughly and exhaust has white smoke. Any feedback really appreciated.

check for coolant in oil .. oil in coolant .. have a compression test carried out !
