I just asked a question concerning adjusting lifters to reduce clacking noise but inadverttily listed my car as a 91 instead of 1990

The valve lifters are hydraulic and not adjustable. They may worn to the point where they can't pump up enough and would have to be replaced. Also, worn camshaft lobes can make the lifters noisy. You can check this by pulling the valve cover.
