1990 Jaguar XJ6 abs

my problem is is intermittent. if the abs light is on, i have a stiff brake pedal with no power assist. if the light is out, i have normal pedal travel with power assist. when the light goes out, the accumulator jumps like it just turned on.

Sounds like a bad accumulator. I would have it checked ASAP. I don't think this is something you want to tackle yourself.
