Electrical problem
1986 Jaguar XJ6 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

After replacing the selinoid (earlier no start was really a relay problem not selenoid) the engagement to the flly wheel will one time out of four be accompanied by temporary grinding, as if it is not properly engaging.

Hi Russell, try taking the starter back out and reinstalling it. What your doing is damaging your flywheel, and you really don't want to have to replace your flywheel,or even pay to have it done. The starter is not aligned correctly.
