HI, I just received a Jaguar xj6 from a friend. 1984 It will not start right after you turn it off. The battery is new but car has not been run in awhile. We did jump it but it took some time to charge and at one point it would die when taking the battery jumper cables off. Any suggestions would help. THANKS

Hi there,

Have the battery fully charged and load tested, also check the alternator charge rate, to make sure that it will charge the battery when running, if the battery is dead flat and the alternator is not working, the engine will shut off when you remove the jumper battery as there is insufficient voltage to keep the fuel pump & ignition system running.
