1994 Jaguar XJ12 Engine Overheating

I bought a 1994 Jaguar XJ12 and it had a coolent leak in one of the radiator hoses,so I replaced it, but it still over heats and the dash indicator goes from overheating to not overheating while driving. What I need to know is what are some of the resaons it would still be doing that?

check for air in sytem .. blockages or replace the thermostat
