the car starts and idles at 1000rpm when its cold. Then it increases to 1500 rpm when it warms up. when it warms up the idle goes up and down up and down up and down until you put it in gear then it drops down to 1000rpm again. whats wrong what do i need to do.

I have the same problem with my 1988 Jag XJ12,,,any suggestions givn yet?did you get problem fixed?
