2004 Jaguar X-Type 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Manual 40.000 miles

Parked the car in the garage two weeks ago and noticed the battery was sluggish. Came back yesterday and the battery would just click the starter moter. Jump started the car and it fired right up but engine diagnostic light is now on warning me that the engine needs to be diagnosed at the dealer. Dealer advised me to have it towed in. Another dealer said it was a transmission problem? I have not driven the car but it was running perfectly before I went away and it runs good now. There is a recall for I believe a switch in the transmission which I have not had done yet. I intend buy a new battery and test drive it. Is this a major problem.

You know that the battery is no good
and if its a something that you can do your self than I would say do it replace the battery 1st and drive it if light come back on have it scanned for code s
any generic OBDII reader can get the codes and than you can tell from the codes if its a major thing or not
if all work OK you should have the recall done as soon as you can
