2004 Jaguar X-Type black smoke and mis firing

My jad diesel is mis firing a little on acceleration. At the same time there is black smoke from the exhaust and I can hear a wind noise from under the steering wheel as if a fan is on.

start by having the vehicle plugged into a diagnostic computer to check for fault codes and repost with full codes for more assistance and repair information
