1999 XJ vander plas Message 'Stability Control Fail/Failsafe engine mode' appears every now and again. It can be when starting the engine or whilst driving (then there is a loss of power and the car gets in 'failsafe' mode) Please how can I fix this problem?

have the vehicle plugged into a diagnostic computer to retrieve the fault codes .. these codes will pinpoint where the fault lies !
