Hello,
I am having a problem with my s type that is stumping me. The car starts fine and idles fine, but when I start to drive the rpms drop and it sounds like it is not firing. It is most prominant around 35 - 50 mph. You can hear a hollow sound like fuel is not being ignited. The engine light is not on and the only code that I am reading is P1111. Could this be a ignition coil problem or am I having an issue with IAT. Is the IAT sensor built into the mass airflow on this car? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

When I called the dealer he stated that the recall was only a software update and had nothing to do with the overall performance of the car. I will get it done on Monday and see how bad they try to soak me for the added repairs that they will find. Hennesey Jaguar in Atlanta GA has been awful with the charges that they come up with. I had the lurching problem that is common with the s type transmission, they charged me $300 to re-program. I hate to go there because it always drains my account.

This reprogram is free it's a recall for emissions, then if the problem still exists, test the fuel pump pressure, How good are you with working on your Jag? Click on this link to learn how to test the pump.

Cross the IAT off your list of suspects, as it is only used to keep the car running at idle.

I'd begin with the fuel pressure test, but I'd also suggest that you may have a dirty MAF. At 65K, it's certainly wouldn't hurt to clean it.
