have received two different bids on replacing compressor...$1580 and $1040, the latter from GSP dealership and the first from an independent outfit. internet prices for parts less than $600, seems exhorbitant...definitely won't take the independent offer...what say you, how much should this realistically cost???

Labor time for the replacement of A/C compressor on the 6 cylinder is 1 hour 30 minute's ... so labor cost @ $80 per hour would be $120 plus parts cost !!
