Dealer says to replace all 4 shocks & the front steering knuckle, whereas the maintainance handbook states that new shock absorbers need to be replaced at 100,000 miles! Also, the handbook tells me nothing about a steering knuckle, so please tell me what your experienced repair people know about both of these recommended repairs and are they necessary? Additionally, what does each of these repairs generally cost? Thanks so much!

Ok shock can not alway's have a dedicated mileage to have them replaced. There is a lot to take into consideration. One is roads, then driving habbits and driving style. Now the way to check the shocks is to do a bounce test on them one corner at a time. If you push down on the car it should not bounce more then 3 times if so bad shocks.
As for the steering knuckle depends on what you are refering to. Is this the hub bearing assembly? If so which side is it on? There is not a mileage interval on that either as they just go bad and again it also depends on driving habbits and style and roads that you drive. Get back to me if there is anything more I can do or if you have anyother questions. Thanks.
