Just today I experienced a tapping sound near the lower part of the engine about where the oil pan is located. It speeds up when I accelerate, and slows down when I let off the gas. Someone suggested the "bearings" may be going out. If this is the case is that an involved and expensive repair? What else could it be?

Hi there,

If the noise is with in the sump and it is constant with engine speed, i would be getting it checked ASAP as if it is a bearing problem, the result could be a destroyed engine.
