The check engine light came on, but reader not working?

Which fuse should I check? The check engine light came on, but the reader was not working. Used numerous scanners.

The fuse number #44 in the fuse panel under the hood. Here is a guide to help you check it and the fuse location in the images below and I have included the wiring diagrams for the ALDL connector so you can see how it works.

I would also check the wiring at the data port. Check out the images (below). Please let us know what happens.
