ITM engine components graphite composite head gasket. Do I spray this gasket with copper spray or use any kind of sealant? Thanks

Hello, I am Danny.

No, you do not use any type of sealant when installing the head gasket. Just make sure all surfaces are clean/prepped to ensure a quality seal. Hopefully you had the cylinder head checked for warpage or defects before installing. Let us know if you need any information on the tightening sequence or torque specifications for the cylinder head bolts. Hope this helps and let us know if you have any further questions. Thanks for using 2CarPros.

Yes, actually the torque specs would be very helpful. I am not sure if the ones you find online would be very accurate. And sequence would also be appreciated. Thank you for your time.

Hello again, Danny here.

I have attached a picture of the tightening sequence. The head bolts are to be torqued to 54 FT LBS. Hope this helps and please feel free to ask any questions if needed. Danny-

Hey Danny thanks a lot for the tips. I got my car all put back together and it is running smoothly. One more quick question, do I need to re-torque my head bolts after so many miles to make sure they keep the correct torque? I have heard mixed opinions on this. Thanks.

Hello again.

I do not think that is necessary. Did you use new head bolts? Or reuse the old ones?

Yes, I did this time the last time. I changed my head gasket 30,000 miles ago. I reused the head bolts and they loosened on me so I bought new ones this time to be sure.
