It will not pull

I was driving down the highway and with no warning it stops pulling. It will start and go in gear, but when you press on gas it just revs up and makes a rattling and whining noise.

Description indicates the transmission has most probably failed. Check the transmission fluid level and condition of fluid if level is correct. If the fluid smells burns and fluid color is very dark, it could mean the transmission is slipping internally.
