Engine Mechanical problem
1995 Isuzu Truck 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Manual 87000. Miles

My son has an Isuzu he changed the oil and air filter in it yesterday then drove it to school today possilby a mile there and back, he was on E with the gas so he went to Schell to fill up then he drove aprox. 10 miles down town and then on his way back it started to choke and sputter, that lasted for aprox. 3 miles till now it just wont start. It will turn over and just wont start. If you push on the gas it sounds like its floods, it also back fired a few times just befor it quite running. We towed it home and when he turned it off took the keys out and the dash board lights stayed on. So I had him diconnect the battery.
What should we check?

Disconnect a sparkplug wire or 2 and ground it to the engine -have helper crank engine over-do you have a snapping blue spark? If so-you have a fuel related problem, check the fuel pressure to rule out the fuel filter/fuel pump/pressure regulator and listen to the injector/s are they pulsing or hook up a noid light. No snapping blue spark continue to troubleshoot the ignition system-power input to the coil/coil packs, distributor pick-up coil, ignition control module, cam and crank sensors- Note: If it doesn't apply disregard it
