My 2001 trooper. When I drive for a while when you take off from a stop it heatates then slips then it takes time for it to recover. When trying to go up a stip hill it slips and wont go. Only does this after it warms up. Took to a garage, they said it needed flood changed. After they changed the flood they put in a black looking oil. It still dosnt shift right and check transmission light comes on and blinks the light didnt come on until the filter and oil was changed please let me know what to do.

I have on 01 Trooper LS with just under 60000 (59950 to be exact) and I had the same problem about two summers ago. Ended up being a cylinder issue. Don't take it to the dealer. They couldn't figure out the problem. I took mine to Tuffy Auto, and they got it back to me within a day and a night. And it hasn't had the problem since. Check Engine light still shows when it's cold, but I've been told it's a valve issue with the gas cap.
