purchased vehical 3 months ago and heard very low tick,it turned to a loud knock.I know just a little about this suv,can tell it is coming from valve cover. My question is can i replace a single valve and are they self-adjusting or do i have to adjust? Can this be done by a novice? Thank you for any help and comments.

Open it up -its a messy job and listen to it very closely whether it would be a valve, lifter, and rocker arm.
