1992 Isuzu Trooper 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Manual

I just recently bought our car from a guy off craigslist and he said nothing was wrong with the car. then we noticed that there was a "ticking" sound that went on and off periodically. Then the oil pressure was dropping to "0" and the car dies. I just needed to know if the oil pan can just be removed or does the engine have to be pulled first to remove the oil pan?

This could be caused by a weak / faulty oil pump..
