I have a 92 trooper that I am having a charging prob. I have took the altanator 2 times and had it checked out and tested good ,I also got a new battary. The prob. does not happen all the time sometimes the car will stay charged for a week or two and then the battary will start going dead you can see with the volt meater in the car that the altanator has stoped working it will drop below 12V. then the car will slowly start looseing power. I also replaced the plug that goes in the back of the altanator and sill the same thing. It is a very nice car but I cant trust it, HELP ME. THANKS

Hi ktrooper,

Since it is an intermittent problem I would suggest checking the wiring, especially the main wire from the battey to the alternator.

Due to ageing, the connectors sometimes do not fit tight enough and when it heats up, high resistance will cause the problem.
