Transmission problem
1989 Isuzu Trooper 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Manual
----------------------------------------------------------------
When I step on the clutch pedal when the engine is off, I can put the car into gear. Once I start the engine, I can step on the pedal, but I cannot put the vehicle into gear, like the clutch is not engaging. I cannot find any information on replacing the clutch hydraulic control. I do not know if it's just a line, or if it's a complicated system that controls it.

Hi AmeliaTX,

Your descriptions does not tell whether it is hydraulics or clutch assy problem.

Is there any pressure on the clutch pedal?

I am having the same problem EXACTLY with my 1989 Trooper, I have notreplaced the Master Cylinder yet but that is the next step and I am also going to bypass the damper block, I have read on several other that this block can cause unwanted air pockets. This seems to be a common problem when replacing the clutch on these vehicles but unfortunatly there is not a lot out there to help troubleshoot...
