My '04 rodeo 4WD won't engage. When I turn the switch, nothing happens. No dash light, clicks, noises or anything. Also, the ABS light recently came on. Any ideas? Could the 4WD problem, and the ABS problem be related?

Ok first off check fuses for the 4x4 and then check the transfer controler under the center console make sure it is plugged in good and that no wires looked bad or anything. We may need to test the transfer actuator it self and or the front axle motor actuator. Let me know if you would like to go further with this you will need a test light and digital multi meter. It could be one of the front wheel sensors too as that would also explains why the ABS light is on. If you call around to your local parts stores and find one that does free scans and see if you can get code to see why the light is on we can look further into this if you like. Let me know thanks

I am having the same problem I turn the switch no clicks or anything I looked under my center console and found that one side of my transfer control module was un plugged I plugged it back in and when starting my vehicle the speedo was reading around 40 to 50 mph while sitting I have since replace the rear transmission speed sensor and I am still having the same problem.

This can be the transfer case actuator, here is a wiring diagram and how to replace the actuator in the images below I would use a test light to make sure the fuse# 14 (under hood fuse), fuse # 14 and 11 (interior fuse panel) are okay and if so, replace the transfer case actuator. Check out the diagrams (below). Please let us know what you find. We are interested to see what it is.
