The brake lights on my 2002 Rodeo work fine until I turn on the headlights.

When you step on the brakes, while the headlights are on, the tail lights go dark, instead of getting brighter. The center brake light does work with the head lights on, in fact all other lights work; turn signals, hazard etc.

I have checked all the fuses and they are fine. Is there a relay or resistor that could cause this?

Hello !! Here`s the schematic, looks like you have a bad connection or broken wire... check the black wire under center console B8 (that`s the ground exclusively for the stop lights) or the red on the splice (+) .. let me know if you need the schematic big and i will send it to your E-mail.. good luck!
