2000 Isuzu Rodeo Question steerling and electrical problem?

I was driving on highway and heard a scraping noise and then the brake and battery light came on at the same time. I was almost home but every turn of the wheel became harder and harder and I barely was able to turn the wheel to get into the driveway.
