On the highway I suddenly lost 5th gear. I shifted into 4th and the vehicle pulled fine. 20 miles later when I got off the highway, I shifted into 1st. It was also gone as were 2nd, 3rd and reverse. I still have 4th but nothing else.
I have never seen or heard of this before.
Where do I start?

Hi ted2675,

Start looking for a new trans.

The counter shaft is not providing any transfer of power to the main shaft other than the 4th gear.

The clutch shaft or its counter shaft gear should be worn off. You ought to have heard a whining noise while driving.
