when I was driving my car it fealt like it was slipping out of gear and was having a hard time accelerating and the check trans light came on. What could be the problem?

if the tranny service light is on then best thing to do is just have diagnostic scanner used on it to pull up the stored troubule code(s). this will pinpoint the cause of the issues.
