got the truck from a buddy of mine he said the speedometer use to work,hassnt worked since ive owned it put in new cable still no luck,tech works fine,but cant get the speed to work any sujestions

Need to pull the cable out of the speedo and watch it while driving to see if it turns. If it does the problem is in the speedo head, if not turning, the speedo drive in the trans is most likely the problem
