I'm trying to replace a pulley, which has grooves and to the left of the water pump, every time I order one it's wrong. It screws in but it is tight and won't turn. Found online that it is called sheave pulley ordered it from dealer and it's also not fitting, tight. What is the purpose of the wheel on the back of the pulley that screws into the bolt? None of those online match the bolt that screws in.

Hi,

I believe that is an idler pulley. The part number should be 0002020719. I think the wheel you are referring to is the bearing inside the pulley. If you hold the pulley at the center, it should spin on that bearing.

Are you sure it is being installed in the correct direction? If you have it backward, the washer will bind on the pulley.

Let me know.

Take care,

Joe

Yes, I tried all three of them that I ordered, none of them look like, and yes I know you have to basically hold the bolt on the inside so the pulley can hold but the bolts that come with them tighten the bolt and pulley so it can't spin. Only the original one does because the bolt and plate look different. Yes, the bolt came installed in the pulley, but none came with this backing plate.

Hi,

Is it possible for you to send me a pic of the two you are referring to? Also, by backing plate, are you referring to a flat washer?

Let me know.

Hi,

Okay, if you could send the pics, it may help me. Also, there is a chance you are installing it backward. Try turning it the opposite way and see if there is any difference.

Let me know.

Okay, do this. Before reinstalling it. Spray paint the flat washers on each side. Install it and turn it several times in both directions. Remove it and see which washer has the paint damaged. That will at least pinpoint the side that is touching.

Let me know.
